Loop met ons mee
Horrific terrorist attacks and Islamic suicide bombings are the order of the day. Aweful indeed, but you had better get used to the idea that we won’t be freed from these demonic fools for quite a while yet. Welcome to the world of jihad.
Long years of humane tolerance toward Muslims – who eagerly take advantage of our democratic rights and privileges while simply ignoring our western house-rules – is today being repaid with devastating hatred.
The chaos seems complete; in large numbers Syrian refugees flood our ‘civilized’ Christian western world, Great Britain is leaving the European family, America is heading for elections offering the choice between an ambitious, manipulative iron lady or a foolish harlequin, who is not hindered by any insight whatsoever in the global international chaos and confusion.
Amazingly, many embrace this Donald Trump as a savior. Some Christian leaders even consider this Republican candidate an enlightened businessman who will make light work of the current chaos. My goodness …
Prayer for the nations
It will not surprise you that Christianity too is at its wits’ end. For years, we expected and prayed for revival in our own countries, however, today we are witnessing the exact opposite. Things are going haywire.
Christians are holding prayer meetings to pray for the nations. Under the guise of a global ‘Prayer Call’ believers are urgently called to bend the knees for our world that is quickly disintegrating.
Interesting, especially when you realize that this prayer burden is not mentioned in the Bible. Rather, in the famous High Priestly Prayer, Yeshua says: “I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me…” (John 17: 9).
Yeshua is referring to the Jewish people and those faithful who have been added to them. Christians however, have turned this around; they pray especially for the world but hardly for the Jewish people.
Do not pray for this people
In the book of Jeremiah you can read a striking verse: “So do not pray for this people nor offer any plea or petition for them; do not plead with me, for I will not listen to you.” (Jeremiah 7:16, see also 11:14, 14:11; Isaiah 1:15)
‘This people’ refers to Israel. Israel had turned away from God, worshiped idols and had disobeyed Him. God shut himself off from his people. He was furious. We know that this abandonment was temporary (Isaiah 54: 7-10).
I am convinced that today these words apply to the (Christian) nations. We can pray until we are blue in the faces, God will turn away from us.
God removed his protective wings from Europe and the US
We will discover that God has forever removed his protective wings from our Western countries. He has had enough of our western / Christian arrogance toward Israel. He is tired of our never ending sins. He is sick of our flirt with the LGBT hype. (Woe to you if you critically denounce this popular tendency, then it is suddenly done with your cherished freedom of speech.)
What about the declining care for the elderly and vulnerable?
Europe and the Western world will perish due to unrestrained sympathy and tolerance for Islamist excesses, but … as soon as Israel is mentioned, all hell breaks loose. Dapper, neo-liberal peace activists wave BDS flags and, unhindered by factual knowledge, accuse Israel of major crimes against those poor Palestinians.
It would be no surprise that Israel forms the measure of how God acts. We read: “I will bless those who bless you (Israel), and whoever curses you I will curse.”(Genesis 12: 3)
For two thousand years, the (Christian) nations had plenty of opportunity to bless his people Israel by standing in the breach for them, for Zion’s sake not be silent, for Jerusalem’s sake not be silent, to pave the way, to clear stones, to comfort Israel, to defend them … yet, the opposite happened; we never missed an opportunity to obstruct God’s beloved people.
The extremely painful history of the Christian West tells us of the terrible atrocities European Christians committed in the name of Christ, Cross and Church. It should not surprise us that after rejecting Israel for a period of two thousand years, comes God’s time of reckoning. The time of the gentiles has come to an end.
God Himself intervenes
After the Holocaust, during which Christian Europe watched how God’s firstborn son, Israel (Ex.4: 22) was almost completely eradicated, God intervened. He has come into action. God has rolled up his sleeves (Isaiah 52:10), and rose again to have mercy on Zion (Israel) (Psalm 102:13).
The State of Israel was reborn!
On May 14, 1948 the Independence-speech was declared by Ben Gurion.
The God of Israel has drawn a definitive line in the sand. He turns – again – permanently to his beloved, chosen people Israel. Ancient prophecies are being fulfilled before our eyes; the people return home, ruins are rebuilt, vineyards are planted, wine being drunk, gardens landscaped, houses built. You must be blind not see these prophetic fulfillments.
How did the Western – Christian – world react to this great intervention of God? Were the nations eager to assist God with the restoration of the fallen shelter of David (Amos 9:11)? Did we flock to Israel to help our older brother defend themselves against the Muslim gangs who invaded and occupied Israel? Did we support and help this troubled nation with the development of their promised land? In other words, after the horrific Holocaust did we stand in the breach for the Jewish people?
God speaks “The Lord will cause people to hear his majestic voice (…) with raging anger and consuming fire, with cloudburst, thunderstorm and hail” (Isaiah 30:30).
God speaks in many ways. The Bible contains many examples where God expresses his anger through extreme weather events. They are almost a daily occurrence in the news headlines. Is it dawning on you yet? God is furious with the nations! These extreme weather events are warnings from God! Who takes these serious warnings to heart? Do you hear his voice?
The Western world seems to be suffering from a contagious strand of self-hatred and self-destruction. In the shortest time possible, Europe thoroughly squanders its ancient rights and privileges. The genie is out of the bottle, this process can’t be stopped.
Don’t think for a moment that the masses of immigrants will cede their Islamic “rights and privileges”. Forget it, their agenda is set in stone. They have only one sacred goal, which is to convert this Western/Christian home as soon as possible into a dar al Islam, an Islamic house. Allahu akbar.
Where is the living church?
Why is it so quiet around the church?
Hasn’t got the church a powerful and clear Message? Where can that Message be heard? Who leads the wayward countries back on the path to healing? Where are the leaders, the prophetic pastors and ministers? What strategy is followed? Please, by all means, don’t make any waves.
We mutter some humanistic words towards Muslim refugees and keep snoozing.
Christians exhibit escapism. The chaos is simply too overwhelming. Once a week many gather in their religious bubble and are doing fine, thank you. Far removed from the evil world they follow the religious, Sunday roundabout.
I know, I know, by generalizing, I run the risk to overlook the rare individual who does stand up.
We forget that we are precisely on earth because of these turbulent times. There is a war raging! Believers should make the difference. Believers should participate in this spiritual warfare. Who will instructs them? Who will equip them? Who is still capable of doing that?
Often, I have written and spoken about Laodicea (Revelation 3:14 ff). Yet I can not help but once again draw your attention to this city.
The meaning of Laodicea is “justice to the people.” Today you could describe that as ‘human rights’ or ‘democracy’.
If you read what the Bible says about this church you will notice a striking similarity of Laodicea with the 21st century church.
The writer laments: “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.” (Revelation 3: 15,16)
Dear reader, this is a highly accurate description of our present times. In Laodicea “God’s law” has been exchanged for ‘human rights’. From passionate, redeemed sons and daughters, we were transformed by Laodicean theologians to humanistic, liberal Christians.
The humanistic impartiality you so highly value, God Himself dismisses as nauseating. He spits it out!
We sympathize with all extreme, twisted views, behaviors and sins.
The Christian church of today has become a Laodicean, impartial, human-rights-church. Bland and spineless.
Knowingly, we have brushed aside God’s rights. The West rather looks after their own affairs, no need for God.
Don’t fool yourself; God has permanently turned Himself toward Israel. He has removed his protective wings from our western world and placed them around Israel. (Psalm 91: 4)
The consequences for the western nations will be inevitable. Natural disasters and terror attacks, economic misery and other calamities will increasingly affect our lands. There is no stopping it.
God says: “So do not pray for this people nor offer any plea or petition for them; do not plead with me, for I will not listen to you.”
Words that in a distant past were addressed to Israel today apply to the nations. We have had ample opportunity to allow God’s law to prevail unconditionally.
We have chosen to transform Him into a Western, democratic God. Immediately, the consequences will be apparent. Your prayer notwithstanding.
I know, this column does not fit the heading: “Nice and encouraging”. That’s for a good reason. I hope to arouse you from your comfortable religious nap. Now is the time to awaken and stand up!
Is there no way out? Certainly. Turn away from the unholy Laodicean human-rights-church and take the Father by his hand. Pray that Yeshua will actually take full control of your life. Pray for the Holy Spirit of discernment. Reach your destiny.
I can not stress it enough, Israel is the measure of all things. In these end-times Israel will play a decisive role. God’s spotlight is fully focused on this country and its people. The Messiah will not return in Vancouver, Kent, Berlin or Housten but in Jerusalem.
If you want to be relevant in God’s vineyard and participate in God’s end-time scenario, I have only one advice: Seize the last chance to obey the ancient prophetic command to be a watchman as described in Isaiah 62:
“For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent, for Jerusalem’s sake I will not remain quiet (…) I have posted watchmen on your walls, Jerusalem; they will never be silent day or night. You who call on the Lord, give yourselves no rest, and give him no rest till he establishes Jerusalem…”
See you on the walls of Jerusalem.
