Why go to Jerusalem? PDF Print E-mail

Is it really necessary to actually go to Israel to intercede and proclaim the Word of God?

Isn’t it too dangerous to stay in Jerusalem with all the terrorist attacks and constant conflict with the Palestinian people?

Isn’t it too dangerous to stay in Jerusalem with all the terrorist attacks and constant conflict with the Palestinian people? It cannot be denied that ever since the Jewish people entered the Promised Land, there has been strife with the surrounding Arab nations, with an increased sense of hatred through the ongoing Intifada. In spite of talks about peace, Islamic nations will never tolerate or accept a Jewish presence in Israel.

Is it possible to fight the spiritual war from our ‘living room’ and should we, Gentile believers, not stay out of it and try and encourage our Jewish brothers and sisters from a distance?

Of course we can take up our place there we are and be a watchmen on the wall in a spiritual sense. Many people already are actively praying for the peace of Jerusalem and hopefully that army will continue to grow and gain strength. However, prophecies are fulfilled both in a spiritual and a physical, natural way. Take for example the physical return of the Jews to the natural Israel! The world is still witnessing the fulfillment of this amazing prophecy as Jews continue to return to their Land. And what about the second coming of the Messiah… it will be a physical, glorious return in Jerusalem.

The physical elements are without a doubt very important and it is therefore very powerful to actually go to Jerusalem. We want to encourage and inspire as many believers as possible to travel to Israel in order to be a part of the prophetic call to ‘give yourselves no rest and give Him no rest till He establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praise of the earth’ (Isaiah 62). Let fear not hold you back, but rather stand up and encourage as many believers as possible to come and join us in Jerusalem. Together with many others walk over the walls of Jerusalem and be a watchman in spirit and body!
