Speed the coming of the Messiah PDF Print E-mail
…”as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming.”
2 Peter 3:12

The Bible really says that! You and I can influence the timing of the return of Yeshua (Jesus) the Messiah. How? By looking forward to His return. That sounds ridiculous, however that’s exactly what it says. But how do you look forward to that day, you may wonder. By hoping in Him, the Lion of Judah. It amazes me that as time goes by this hope seems to weaken. Many elderly people still expect the return of the Messiah. But most youths couldn’t care less… Although, recently I spoke to a well-known practiced spiritual leader who confided in me that His return “could wait another 500 years…”.

Did I hear this correct? Would this opinion be representative of the outlook that most spiritual leaders have? Let me know…. Let me be clear; I don’t believe that we have to wait much longer for Messiah to return. We are all accelerating towards the unfolding of our history. You must be wearing spiritual blinders if you don’t ‘see’ the Bible prophecies describing our present day in scary detail. In the prophecies our eyes are drawn to Israel. That’s where the story began; that’s where the unraveling will also take place. There, in Israel, the Son will set His feet on the Mount of Olives, there the Mount of Olives will split in two (Zech. 14:4).

Prior to that day much will happen; the state of Israel will be re-established (took place in 1948), Jerusalem will be expanded and built up, ruins will be rebuilt, the wilderness will be cultivated, vineyards will be planted. Jews will return to their Promised Land and finally return to their God. …”I will inspire them to fear me…” Jer. 32:40) and …”I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh…” Ezekiel 36:26.

Every day we proclaim these prophecies of restoration, comfort and forgiveness from the walls of Jerusalem. When we call out these centuries old but very applicable words we essentially say: “come Messiah, return, we are longing for You so much …”

Meanwhile we have to urge one another: "Be dressed ready for service and your lamps burning…” (Luke 12:35) “You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him." (Luke 12:40)

Then follows an interesting verse: "Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom the master puts in charge of his servants to give them their food allowance at the proper time…?” (Luke 12:42, 43) Here I will pause for a moment. Do we give “the servants their food allowance at the proper time”? Do the preachers and church leaders present “the proper food” to their congregations? Do they rouse their flock? Do they sound the alarm? I wonder about that! Are they truly aware of the seriousness of our times? Do they see that our older Jewish brother is surrounded by evil forces that have one goal in mind; the destruction of the Jewish State of Israel? Do we realize the necessity to “for Zion’s sake not be silent any longer…” or will it remain silent in the churches…do we just continue sleeping for another 500 years…?

See you on the walls of Jerusalem.
