A couple of weeks ago, we returned from the "long walk" over the walls. The route leads from the New Gate to the Damascus Gate, Herod's Gate and finally the Lion's Gate. We have to descend the wall at this last gate. It is illegal to walk across the brick laid Golden Gate past the Temple Square.

We mostly walk round the Golden Gate. Then, we cross a Muslim cemetery. This cemetery is situated there on purpose, to prevent the Messiah from passing the Golden Gate to enter the Temple Square. (Ezekiel 43:2-4) A Jew isn’t permitted to walk across an unclean cemetery…. Obviously, one hasn’t studied the prophets well.

Zechariah 14:4 says He will take his stand on the Mount of Olives east of Jerusalem, and the mountain will split in half, forming a wide valley that runs from east to west…
Whenever you stand there, opposite the Mount of Olives, you can only conclude that when the Mount of Olives splits in half, nothing will remain of the Muslim cemetery. The closed Golden Gate will tear down because of the earthquake’s violence. One should see it up close to imagine this. Anyhow, after our daily walk upon the walls, we walked back through the Old City. We ran into someone selling postcards at the Via Dolarosa, the famous street that is visited by many pilgrims, either dragging crosses along or not. Each inhabitant of Jerusalem knows that these people don’t sell postcards, but use it as an effective shield to pick a person’s bag. I observed the dear man and…yes, gotcha! He walked towards a sweet, unsuspicious English lady, held some cards up in front of her sunburnt nose and I saw the sticky-fingered movement towards her bag. He zipped her bag open en immediately held a couple of dollar bills in his hand. I walked towards him and hit him quite hard on his hand, in which he held the money. He was frightened to death and immediately started yelling "Zionist" at me.

The English lady looked up, startled, and didn’t understand the commotion. I quickly told her someone just picked her pocket. "O no, sir, you're mistaken... this man just wanted to sell his nice postcards..." When she’d finished speaking, some dollar bills whirled to the ground. Frightened, she picked up her pennies and bills she took on this holiday trip and honourably thanked me. The Arab criminal (I was still holding his wrist) was calling me all kinds of sinful names. "Zis iz a holy place! You are a Zionist!" I thanked him for this compliment and pursued my way.

Thinking back about this coincidence I wonder why this man called me a Zionist. Obviously, this is the ultimate curse for an Arab seller of postcards. It makes you think. This gets to the heart of the problem. This shows in a very convincing way that we are dealing with a religious problem. He put all his hatred and anger in hissing this beautiful Jewish word.

There is an enormous hatred against the Jews. This even seems to increase in Jerusalem nowadays. More and more Arabs publicly support Hamas and deny Israel’s right to existence. It is not about peace or an `own country` to many Arab inhabitants of Jerusalem and Samaria/Judea. Israel just has to disappear. Period. One isn’t even secretive about it anymore. These things are said publicly. The other day, an Arab said to me near Jaffa’s gate: “we got the Turkish out, we got the English out and soon the Jews will leave”.

Especially in these days, we will have to follow suit. These are the days that God calls His watchmen. For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent, for Jerusalem’s sake I will not remain quiet. See you on the walls of Jerusalem!
