Yet, it will become inevitable that one has to make a choice. The choice for Israel. Because Israel is our big brother. That doesn't mean our big brother never makes any mistakes or never takes the wrong decisions. No, as far as that is concerned, they resemble us very much. God calls Israel His firstborn son (Exodus 4:22) and even His dear son (Jeremiah 31:20). However, in Galatians 4 we can read that the Father accepted us as sons too. So now, we are part of it as well. Jews and believers are brothers. You and I belong to Israel. Israel and the Jews are a unity. They can not be separated. They belong together too.

This isn't the place to dwell on the promises and the prophecies that are being fulfilled in Israel today. However, it is about time that we, the Gentiles, study Israel's situation. Ignorance is no excuse. It truly is written in His word. You can't get away from it, we will have to take a stand and support Israel.

Occupied Areas

Recently, Benny Elon came to our country for a quick visit. Elon is part of the Knesset (the Israeli parliament). He came to speak to a number of prominent people in Katwijk/Netherlands. He came right from the frontline to speak to the group of people. Be prepared for the worst! I prepared myself for a right-wing fire-and-brimstone sermon. To my astonishment, he got a Bible and in all simplicity, gave a lecture about Joshua and Kaleb, who were ordered by God to occupy the Promised Land. Elon also quoted the story from Ezekiel 37, in which bones were put together. This process is happening at this moment. Like bones, the survivors from the holocaust returned to Israel, the Promised Land, which was promised to them by the God of Israel. Would this country now have to be divided in a Jewish and Palestinian state? Then, read Joel 3 verse 2 and Ezekiel 48:14. The Palestinian people do have rights, but do they have the right of a state of their own?

The so-called "occupied areas" would have to be called the "promised areas". Promised to Israel. It seems to appear that the Palestinians don't want a state of their own within Israel no, they want the whole country from the river Jordan to the Mediterranean Sea with Jerusalem as their capital. Who could be the undivine architect of this?

Who leads us? CNN, BBC, NOS, or the Bible? Consult God's eternal Word. We will have to make a choice about the spirit that leads us, right this time. The church, but you and me as responsible individuals as well, will have to make a choice. Are you sometimes overwhelmed by fear? Listen to what I heard a well-known Rabbi say the other day: "I am definitely not a hero, but oh, I am so scared to become a coward and to become ignorant".
